I think this idea may be something well worth considering. I've been interested in visiting San Francisco for a while now, but most tours (eg Yosemite, Grand Canyon & Classic California) only spend 2 nights in SF when many reviews suggest that this is insufficient. Even JY's latest tour 'America's Western Wonders' only spends 2 nights in the city, with 'America's Golden West' being the only tour that allows a 3 night stay.

Dawn has also intimated in her post that 2 nights in SF is insufficient, so I find it a little strange that this common theme has not been picked up and introduced in JY's latest tour, especially as the 'Golden West' tour was modified a few years ago to add an extra night following similar comments.

So any idea that allows at least a 3 night stay in SF would be of interest to me.

Hi,

 I was thinking about booking  the Historic Trail holiday so I could see Washington and Philadelphia but you spend so much time on the coach when you on a tour  and you end up spending more time travelling and don’t get to spend much quality time in each place. I have done the Chicago to New Orleans holiday and that is a total round trip of just under 1000 miles in 12 days so a lot of travelling in between. One day was about 400 miles so it was a very long day. Although I enjoy the tours, it would be good to go on a holiday where you can visit a couple of places and travelling by rail  would make a nice change as I am fond of rail travel.

I have a strong dislike of long distance coach travel, but realise quite a lot is necessary on USA holidays. However the distances involved and percentage of holiday time spent on a coach makes me reluctant to book.

I was close to booking The Historic East Trail until I realised that the coach travel includes one day of 325 miles.

If I'm using the web distance calculator correctly the Heart and Soul holiday has a 395 miles day, which for me is out of the question.

A two centre holiday with air travel (or perhaps even rail) between them using each centre as a hub to explore that area would be ideal.

I thought it might be a good idea to introduce holidays where you could go to two cities in one holiday. For example, New York and Boston or Washington. San Francisco and Las Vegas. Hong Kong and Singapore. I know JU do a few city breaks but they are only for three nights and considering the length of the flight, it is a long way to go for such a short time and it would be good to combine two or three places in the same holiday.

Also  very often, you only get to visit these places on a tour and if some people preferred not to do a tour and wanted a more chilled out relaxing holiday, this would be a good option.  My first long haul holiday was a 14 night tour of California which included two nights in Las Vegas and two nights in San Francisco but as we had very little time there, I’ve always wanted to go back and spend about three/four nights in each place. This  type of holiday would  give the opportunity to spend a good amount of time in each place, do your own thing and also do optional excursions if you wish.

Just wondered if this type of holiday could be considered some  time in the future.
