Hi Julia,

Many thanks for all your help. Holiday all booked for May 10th!!

PaulineD

Hi Julie,

Yes, there are already two travellers booked on this date (1 man/1 woman) with ages from mid-50s to early-60s.

The flight - stressing that the following is provisional, subject to change and would be confirmed in your final documentation, the flight is a daytime flight arriving in Calgary mid-afternoon on Day1 for your transfer to Banff.

In terms of the walking aspect - this is a new tour for 2015 and I've been advised that it's on par with what you would have experienced on the Canada & New England tour.

Hope all of this helps.

Kindest regards,

Julia

This holiday was on my list, but I may have to rethink. Forty is a very large group. I have done two JY holidays with similar numbers, and not felt as comfortable as I did in smaller (25-30) groups. Larger groups invariably lead to smaller cliques forming. Am I right in thinking that group sizes especially for North America are getting larger?

Hi Sarah,

I went on the Armericas Golden West Holiday last year which was a large group and I found it really difficult as there were several small groups within that number which were already formed before the holiday. I went to China the year before, and although it was a largish people didn't seem to be quite so 'Cliquey'!. However, as you can see from Julias posts there are only a few people on the may trip for Canada and so i am going to take the plunge and book it today!! Would be great to know I have a 'fellow traveller' if you change your mind!!

Hi Julia,

I'm thinkng of going to Canada & The Rocky Mountaineer, on 6th September has anyone booked yet, if so what the ages? Is it an overnight flight? Will it be like the Canada & New England for the walking aspect! Julie L

Hi SarahS & Pauline

Sarah, I'm sorry to hear that you might have to rethink your plans. On most (but not all) North America tours we can take up to 40 travellers, and this has been the case for a number of years as this is a popular destination with our travellers. It is worth noting that whilst we allocate up to 40, we don't always take that many away with us.

Pauline, I've just had a chat with one of the girls upstairs and she said she was feeling quietly optimistic about this date given the number of travellers that have already booked - obviously that's not a green light but it is looking good!

Kindest regards,

Julia

I was going to book this holiday but now there could be 40 of us going I wont be,

I`ll be looking elsewhere. I`ve been on a JY holiday where there has been 40 of us

and its not good, far too many.

Hi PaulineD

You can book quite close to travelling, but for most holidays we have to return unsold flight seats and hotel rooms to our suppliers about 12 weeks before departure. If you book after this date a supplement may be incurred - so booking sooner rather than later is always advised. There is still time to have a chat with those at work to confirm the dates you are available for.

Unfortunately the girls I ask about whether or not a tour will be cleared to operate are off celebrating New Year's Eve today - give me a nudge next week and I'll have a quick chat to them about this tour. Personally I think the numbers are looking quite positive at the moment, but I'll see what they say.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Yippee,

Thanks Julia, it looks as though I'm going to Canada in May, hooray!!

Hi PaulineD,

So, we can take up to 40 travellers on each of these dates and the numbers so far are.....

10th May there are currently 11 travellers booked (5 men and 6 women)

7th June departure there are currently 21 travellers booked (2 men and 19 women)

Hope this information helps.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Jula,

Thank you for responding so quickly. There was one other question I forgot to ask. What is the cut off date for booking the May date please, as I have to confirm my holiday dates with work and I don't go back until Monday? Also, how many do you need for holiday to be cleared to go?

Sorry for all the questions!!

PaulineD

Many Thanks,
