Hello Joan

That is interesting what you say about your Travel Insurance through the bank. I have a Gold Account with Lloyds TSB and they do not issue a policy number as such. They use your bank account number, including the sort code, as the policy number.

I phoned AXA , as the insurance is done through them, to find out if I was covered for CHINA, and they told me that they don't need to know where and when I am going anywhere, as long as it is for no more than 30 days at a time.

Re:Travel Insurance

I have insurance through Natwest and have just checked the cover and if you have an Advantage Gold account you are covered for the USA.I suggest if anyone is unsure they get intouch with the bank on 0870 609 1213. They will also give them their individual policy number. Hope this is helpful. Joan Carter

Thanks Peter, but I wanted to close my account anyway (Natwest are having too many technical problems). I have found insurance with Admiral Direct that is only going to cost the same as 3 months of the cost of my gold account. And as the other benefits are pretty worthless to me I may as well jump now :)

Hello Lindsay

I get my Insurance included with my bank account (LLoyds TSB). The actual insurer is AXA. My policy doesn't cover America, but it can be included for an extra cost. Probably a lot cheaper than buying a new policy. Enquire at the bank or phone the insurer direct, before you do anything else.

Like Cindy I use the Post Offce (Annual World Wide plus USA), think its around £90, not sure what single trip cover costs.

Did have a issue while in the States once an hd to claim for rellocation (extra flights) because I couldn't get to New Orleons because they were awaiting a hurricane (gustav) to hit and flights were only leaving. Ended up going to San Antonio instead and had no problem with the insurance been paid for the diference.

So I stick with Post Office because they were good when I needed them.

I would say when I get world wide insurance cover from the post office it covers most places but if you want USA you have to buy world wide cover plus USA cover to be include MAD to be honest world wide should be the whole world.!!

Cindy

Just had another look, and it doesn't include USA!! I never would have thought a Worldwide policy would exclude America. Lucky that the lady questioned my cover, and thanks for the advice Mick. I will go online and buy a policy now.

Good morning Lindsay,

Thankyou for sending this across, I have asked a team leader in our contact centre to clarify exactly what the adviser meant. I also agree with Mick, I would contact your bank and confirm exactly what is included, will you let me know what they say please?

Kindest,

Ben

Lindsay,

Go in and check with your bank some world wide policys include America but some don't.
