I also had a very helpful NW cashier who went through her till to find me some nice looking £20.00 notes. Look forward to seeing you all at the airport on the 23rd. Have you checked the weather. Its looking good 28- 30 average.
Hello Rusty HatchA little tip for getting new or newish Bank Notes. The best place to try is the hole in the wall. These are filled by security companies and the Bank of England use them as an easy way to get new notes into circulation. Try and draw £20 out and if you get a new note BINGO, problem solved. Then draw out however much you want to take. I assume that your ATM's only issue £10 and £20 notes. Our ATM's only issue Jersey notes and I have to hope that the airport terminals have new notes. Like you, our banks cannot guarantee new Bank of England notes because they have to be ordered from the UK, and they do not know their condition before they get them.Hope it works for you.Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the info. Tried to get £20 out of ATM & the thing spat out 2 x £10. Still will try again. Have some decent notes so by the time I go I may have enough.
i had no luck with this as only old notes came out but will try again beforei leave
Hi Olly,Read about taking crisp unwritten on english notes.Asked in bank about new £20 notes & they don't supply them, but they can supply new £50 notes. Are these acceptable in the hotels, or are £20 notes fine so long as they are not tatty, maybe just folded? Also when we arrive at the airport is someone there to tell us where to go or do we go to the departure desk to check our cases in & then find the lounge?

I could not get new notes either but the NW bank clerk was lovely and went through all a pile of £20 notes to find ones that were in good condition and had no marks or rips so i also hoping these will do
Many travellers say that you should avoid taking £50 notes to China as you are likely to have trouble changing them. You will be better off with nearly-new £20 notes than mint condition fifties.
When you get to the airport, go to the check-in desks for your flight (you will see this information on the overhead screens). At check-in your tour manager or airport rep will help you check in and point you in the right direction. After you have passed through the scanners you will be able to meet up with the group in the lounge and start enjoying your holiday!
Kind regards,
Olly, your editor
