Same time as when I went so hot morning, scorching afternoon and, hot evening ..!!!!!Well into the late 80's with very high humidity so you feel sticky most of the time. Not a lot of aircondioning at the hotels, There was a unit in the bedroom of the 2nd hotel which was most welcome but public areas were not air con..just very open plan to the elements. I took light sweatshirt and anorak of which neither ever came out of the case, but then again you never know you could need them. Many people had sun hats on, I did not.

I went on this trip in March this year, I dont think there is a great variation in the weather through the year and allthough it does get relatively cool late evening and early morning it is still pleasant, dont forget a good sunscreen/block and a hat when on Safari although there is an elevated roof on the minibus it still gets very hot & dusty. Be aware when in Mombasa that snatching of Jewelery can happen through the open windows of you tour bus (it happened to a couple on our tour bus, the lady had a necklace torn off in a traffic Jam) so keep valuables out of sight and windows closed. But dont let that put you off the holiday is fantastic and I will probably go again myself. make sure you take plenty of water with you & enjoy.

Jan,

what time of year are you going??? I went late Sept/Oct last year. My tips for you would be:

Wet Wipes, and hand cleaning gel (like the stuff in hospital) great for cleaning hands as some of the toilets are NOT the best !!! anything to keep you cool and fresh.

You MUST drink plenty of water, some people did not and suffered nasty headaches.

I took lots of mossy stuff but was bitten alive, ended up on antihistamine tabs so might be worth taking that with you if you suffer with bites.

T BAGS as the Tea is not good,

Loose cool clothes.

Plenty of memory cards or film for camera. one lady didnt have batteries so ended up with no pictures as she thought she would get batteries at the airport.

The right currancy one lady had South African Rand.she lost about 50.00 in the exhange rate.

If theres anything else just ask..

YOU will have a GREAT TIME..

Hi Cindy

Thanks a lot for that information. I am going on 21st October. What temperatures can I expect, is it very cold early morning? I expect it to be very hot mid-day.

Hi Jan,

I am just waiting on confirmation on this. Reading some of the posts from other members who have been on this tour, they are provided.

Kind regards

Julia

Hi Olly

Can you tell me if pool towels are provided at the safari lodge and at the hotel in Mombassa?

I'll have a lot more room if I don't need top pack one.
